Sketchy Business

Here are a few from workshops over the last month or so, Daniella as a Mod girl, Stacy Walker as the vampire hunter, Sara figure model, and Marissa as Bettie Page.15 minutes to an hour pose on most of these.

Movie poster? Book cover?

Here are a couple sample pieces I've been working on in spare moments. We have a '60s blockbuster movie style poster, "Sword of the Valkyrie". Sword wielding vixens versus evil WW1 style robots! Also a sample for a nonexistent book, "Texas Cowgirls". Hmmm. Maybe a coffee table book!

Drawing workshop never stops (I hope!)

Here are some sketches from the last 2 months or so. A torch singer, a rock and roll girl, and a bikini costume that I was never quite clear on. Doesn't matter if the poses are great, which they were. Many thanks to our great models!

Bellissima!

Back to another retro-style poster for my old Lambretta Li 150. Sorry for the lower-than-usual rez, but the older poster I did seems to keep popping up for sale without my permission. Bad JuJu.

Space Attack

Here's another pulp art spectacular. Our heroes have been cut off from their spacecraft by some hungry carnivores! How will it all END?? A color saturation Fiesta!

Starmaiden

Here is a piece I based on a workshop sketch of Stacy Walker as a space girl. Thanks Stacy! I love the old Sci-Fi pulp magazine covers, this is my take on that.

Sassy or Sweet

Here are a couple of pieces I've been dabbing at for a while, Bride of the Vampire, and Very Cherry.Similar in presentation (reclined figure) but very different in tone. Photoshop/digital paint combos, a lot of fun to see how different I can make them.

Stacy in Space

Stacy Walker returns as a Space Maiden with attitude!....and a ray gun.

The Drawing Club book is out!

The leader of our bi weekly drawing night here at work, Bob Kato, has a great new book out based on his main weekly workshop here in L.A., The Drawing Club. Open to all for a modest admission, Bob provides a night of fantastic character models, beautifully lit and propped out complete with themed soundtrack. Highly recommended if you're in the area. Or you can buy his book which covers a lot of info on drawing characters from life and is packed with drawings ( a few of my pieces are included, thanks Bob!) Only $19 bucks or so on Amazon, support the arts and get a great instruction book as well. Congrats Bob, I hope the book does well!

A Woman of the Forest

Lauren was our model last night, a woman of the forest.Maybe I should have added a basket and a big bad wolf, but there you go.

Farewell Tiffany!

We bid a fond farewell to a great model, Tiffany Chin, as she moves on to voice-over work. Someone else will have to take on the Tank Girl character in drawing workshops. Best of luck to you!

Waitress, etc.

Some more recent sketch night drawings.

Finally

Finally some new sketches. I've been really busy at work and my house is a mess from a remodel, so the side art has slowed.

Samurai

Last night's sketch, Samurai warrior. About 45 minutes.

Go Go Britannia!

Why not? I think Austin Powers would approve.

Sketchy goodness

Some more drawings from workshop over the last couple months.

Face It!

It's been really busy lately, so not a lot of spare time for painting. I did manage to get in some practice faces from photos, they're always a good quick way to try some different techniques.

Art Theft Update: Success!

I contacted ebay's Vero group (copyright infringement) and they immediately got the piece removed. Kudos to them for doing the right thing.

STOLEN ART!

Well, some interesting news. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon on of my pieces from this site for sale, print on demand from an EBAY shop. Lambretta Love from 2011 was stolen directly from this site, name removed. Lesson learned. Don't post art at a reasonable resolution, or add a big fat watermark. Anyway, I've contacted Ebay to get these clowns to remove it from their site, we'll see what happens next.
